Use a carborundum or diamond stone and drag it from the Snowboard's tip to the tail of the edge. Repeat the movement until all nicks and burrs are gone and the edges are smooth again.
Base Edge Tuning|
Tuning edges is best done with a file. Start off with the base edge of the Snowboard. Still, take care with filing. Make sure not to file the base of the board and only file as little as needed.
Side Edge Tuning
After filing the base, you can file the side edges. Use a small file so you won't have a hard time filing the sidecut of your Snowboard. Special edge files will make it easier to determine the angle that you are filing in. When it comes to tuning your edges you have a couple of options:
|Applying the Wax|
Hold the wax bar against the hot iron and let the wax drip on the Snowboard. Set the iron on a heat that will cause the wax to melt, not to start smoking.
|Spread out the Wax|
Once you have dripped some wax on the board smooth it out with your iron. Apply a thin layer to the entire base of your Snowboard. Allow the wax to cool off and get into the base.
Remove excess Wax and Smoothen|
Use a Plexiglas or plastic scraper to remove the excess wax. Now polish your base with an abrasive pad to smoothen out the surface.
Thank you so much this, it''s very informative. I was worried about messing up the metal edge of my brand new deck after riding over a rock, but now I see it''s totally fixable, but I won''t take any chances and will be sure to take it into a shop before I hit the slopes again!

I am building a prototype snowboard and am having trouble finding an edging supply company. Can anyone help?
Could yoy please tell me the best edges angle for halfpipe?
Having a convex board is not bad. It reduces catching your edge and gives your board a playful feel. All Gnu Banana boards are shaped convex in both directions.
How often should I wax my snowboard? And do you need to wax it more often if you are riding on ice or slush?
you light p-tex with a lighter, you don't melt it with an iron. You don't smooth it out. As soon as you light it, it will start to drip (similar like a wax candle if you'd tip it). USE RAGS because this can get messy. Just put some drips into the ding on your base. AFTER it is completely cool, you scrape the excess off so it's flush with the bottom of the board.
What is the difference for if I use rub-down wax or an iron with wax? I want to buy a big package with my board, bindings, boots, and wax. Will rubdown wax work the same for as if I used melted wax with an iron?
I have a Burton Royale.... It has a crack on the top side of the nose. approximately half way across.. bottom of the board is not damaged at all..... What should i do to fix it???? Suggestios anyone?
A friend just gave me his old snowboard. I noticed on the top of the board all around the entire edge it''s peeling away a little bit. It''s like a transparent film that''s peeling away. Not sure if it was left out in the sun too much or what. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Maybe something I can spray on?

I just got a new TWC burton snowboard and their is a small gouge taken out of the top part of the board at the front above the metal edge. wondering if this is a problem or not and if it can be fixed?
i recently bought a new board and after the second session i noticed that near the nose of the board on the edge two of the layers were coming apart its about 2cm long i am just woundering weither you no how i can fix it or if u think i will be able to return the product on the warrenty thanks
I guess you could repair it yourself but if you can return it or give it to a professional shop to repair it for you that would be better. I fixed mine board with epoxy when the layers were coming apart. Its working fine so far.
does waxing your snowboard help vit go faster? AND DOES IT HELP YOU TURN BETTER?
