STEP 1: Find a moderate slope with as little human traffic as possible. Start riding straight downhill. |
![]() |
STEP 2: Lift the back of the board and pivot off the front to turn the back to the front. |
![]() |
STEP 3: Continue to turn with the board's nose in the air. Do not elevate it too high so you will be able to maintain your balance and avoid falling over. |

STEP 4: Put the board's nose down halfway through the turn. At this point, make a ground spin to finish the turn.

STEP 5: Continue the ground spin until you reach your original position. |

STEP 6: You have now completed the basic Butter. |

so...
do butter start with riding fakie?
since I saw the animation for ollies and wheelies performed with left foot forward.
Friday 6th March 2009 at 1:11:02 PM
No you don't have to start with riding fakie. It's just an animation so you can see it clearer.
I would assume it's different for everyone but if you're a regular, it would probably be best to start with that stance first.

Friday 13th November 2009 at 5:25:11 AM
there easier to start by riding switch just dig your forward heal in if your goofy and your spin back really easily!
Wednesday 9th December 2009 at 2:03:51 PM
Does it matter which way to spin? Like, I''m a regular, does it make a different if I spin clockwise or counter-clockwise?
