Using a layering system will keep you dry and warm without forcing you to wear very heavy clothes and gear. More on the Three-Layer System can be found on our Mountaineering and our Hiking web sites. Wearing a base layer is the first step. The task of the base layer is to maintain a dry and comfortable microclimate next to your skin. The base layer will therefore absorb all the moisture from your skin and then spread it out over the surface of the base layer whereafter it will be evaporated via the other clothing layers. Typical base layer fabrics are: CoolMax® , Polartec® PowerDry®, Patagonia® Capilene®, Helly Hansen Lifa. This knowledge will also help you to make the right choice when buying clothing. We offer a large collection of Base Layers and Thermal Underwears. You can use the Shopping Aid to switch between the different types of Base Layers that we have in our inventory.
