For many years, a dream crossed the valley; the possibility of creating a ski center. Before the construction of the complex, experts worldwide conducted studies, made calculations and designed projects. All of them reached the same conclusion: this was an exceptional area to practice winter sports while its special microclimate, free of rain, was ideal to enjoy outdoor activities during the summer and the rest of the year.
So, with great effort and hard work, on January 20, 1983, the construction of the ski center begun and on June 16, 1983, the center started operating with 400 beds in 3 hotels. Today, it boasts 3047 beds and the prestige of being one of the major hotel complexes in Latin America.
The Valley
Valle de Las Leņas is the most important ski resort in South America. It is located in the heart of the Andean mountain range, in the district of Malargue, Province of Mendoza, Argentina.
Las Leņas is located in the southern end of the province of Mendoza (Argentina)< 43 miles from the location of Malargue, 124 miles from San Rafael and 248 miles from the city of Mendoza.
The Resort
Las Lenas is the top destination of pro-riders in Argentina. It is the venue for a lot of activities, including sponsored rider during some race trainings or some new video. The village is also the largest resort in Argentina. With its big mountain terrain and high elevation, Las Leans will give you a real good deep fluff. Among its amenities are the 14 lifts that access 10 miles of piste. The off piste terrain also offers great challenge and real fun.
Infrastructure
Las Leņas offers:
- 13 lifts;
- One of the world's longest slopes: the combined Apolo + Neptuno + Vemis trails of the intermediate level;
- Terrain Park of 0.9 mile extension with jumps, bumps and rails. It is classified as a black trail;
- El Leņito is the institutional pet of the mount and it is located at th base
- Snowbus service (snowgroomer transport for the practice of off-piste skiing);
- 27 ski and snowboard slopes classified as: beginners (green), intermediate (blue), advanced (red) and expert (black);
- Special road for snowmobiles
- Accommodation: 5, 4 and 3 star hotels, aprt hotels, apartments, dorm houses;
- Ski and Snowboard academy with group and private lesson; over 120 instructors;
- Workshop for experts;
- Safety and Rescue mountain service with the latest evacuation equipment;
- 5 Snowmobiles for evacuation of the injured;
- 3 aid and information points in the mountain;
- 1 central information, safety and rescue office at the base;
- and a lot more
