STEP 1: Look for a good place to grind. Find a Snowboarding Rail that is not too high so you will be able to execute an Ollie with ease. |

STEP 2: Approach is very crucial in doing a 50/50 Grind, as this will ensure that your board will stay flat and straight while on the rail. Ride down the rail, keeping speed under control. |

STEP 3: Have a good take-off so you will stay balanced and in control. Crouch slightly and make a small Ollie to reach the rail, with your board completely on its surface. |

STEP 4: Simply grind like you would if you are just on snow. Keep your board parallel to the Snowboarding Rail. Maintain your balance and just go with the grind. |

STEP 5: To get off, make a small Ollie as you reach the end of the rail. Have perfect timing to avoid an early exit. |

STEP 6: Land with both feet and then ride away. |

I think one of the most important things, which isnt mentioned here, is to be sure not to hold any edge once you hit the rail or box. You will end up slipping off and potentially hurting yourself. Your board should be flat, even if you''re drifting off sideways you are better just to ride it out.

i love that "have perfect timing" is given as an instruction.... if i just "had" it, what would i be learning here exactly? so how do you know how to time your exit ollie? how do you know if it''s too early or too late?
(haven''t tried yet, so i can''t comment on my experience, but i''d like to know what to expect when i do go try these out for myself, seeing as i will likely be alone)

One thing i was taught that helps me ride the whole rail instead of slipping off midway, is to focus on the end of the rail, as oppose to looking straight down at it

id say that the most important thing here is focus and balance.
No balance, you slip off.
No focus, you risk not getting to the end.

Try putting a little more weight on your front foot, it helped me when i was starting off

The next step from this grind would be to do a nose or tail press on the rail.
