This is Mt.Potts. We drop in at our highest point of 2254m, and ski or board down to the hut at 1750m. We ski an average of 12 - 14 runs per day in terrain to challenge intermediate to expert skiers and riders. On a normal cat day you'll drop more than 18,000 vertical feet. Our last run is a 2km mission back to the chopper.

Mt.Potts
Dubbed the new Spot X by a visiting La Grave guide, Mt.Potts is new Zealand's only heli accessed snowcat skiing experience. Join a group of no more than fourteen guests skiing the steeps, powder, chutes and basins of Mt.Potts. We're only one hour from Methven, in Canterbury. Mt.Potts is the highest ski area in the South Island.
The day starts at 8am, when you fly onto the ski area by helicopter. After an avalanche transceiver tutorial the snowcat takes the group to the top for the first run. You ski with the guides, to maximise safety and enjoyment, they'll do their best to take you where you want to go. A break for a picnic lunch happens at around 12.30pm, then you carry on skiing or boarding until around 3.30pm, when you do the final 2km run back to the helicopter for the flight back to base. You'll do an average of 12-14 runs in a day, that's around 18,000 vertical feet!
We end the day with aprés-hour snacks and schnapps on the balcony of mt.potts lodge, the first shot is on us.

Customise: We're flexible. Stay for as long or a short a time as you like. You can add in heli ski days, either with Mt.Potts Heli or Methven Heli. E-mail us your preferences and we'll plan the trip that works best for you.
Stay: Spend the night with us, the Mt.Potts base team will make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Cat day: NZ$320 low season, $350 high season.
Trails and Routes
A five run day costs $765 NZ, incredible value for incredible skiing. Our guides lead no more than five clients, on a ski experience you will never forget. A gourmet mountain-top picnic and apres ski bubbly are included in the daily rate.
