At Great Bear, we have skiing, snowboarding & tubing fun for everyone. Located just 3 miles east of Sioux Falls, SD, we offer 12 downhill trails, 1 quad chair lift, 2 handle tow lifts, a terrain park with half pipe and Eastern South Dakota's only tubing park and lift. With the latest snowmaking techniques, a recently remodeled chalet and a qualified ski school staff, Great Bear is the place to experience the exhilaration of winter!

We offer 12 downhill trails, a custom built beginner area and a terrain park serviced by a quad chairlift and 2 handle tow lifts. We also have the only Olympic size 1/2 pipe in the region.
Try downhill tubing at the Kirby Family Tubing Park! Six lanes of thrills and chills -- and no more walking up the hill, since the Park is outfitted with a custom-built surface-lift system.

History
Great Bear Ski Valley opened to the public in the early 1970s. After several changes in ownership, the City of Sioux Falls Park and Recreation Department purchased the area in 1991 and entered into a partnership with Great Bear Recreation Park, Inc., a non-profit organization, to co-manage the area.

Great Bear Recreation Park features the areas coolest terrain park! Grizzly Park has something to offer for every skier and snowboarder with itch to go big, grind a rail or ride the pipe.

Grizzly Park is a self contained area serviced by a handle tow lift. Hang out at the Wax 'N Brat Haus located at the bottom of the pipe and watch your friends throw their best stuff, enjoy a burger, Mountain Dew or get your deck waxed! |
