Big Sky Resort

Welcome to Big Sky Country

We invite you to vacation at Big Sky Resort, Montana's leading destination. You'll enjoy our exceptional lodging accommodations, fine dining and meeting facilities. In addition to the extensive recreation opportunities we're known for our breathtaking scenery, abundant wildlife and gracious hospitality. Located midway between Bozeman and West Yellowstone Montana, we share the same splendor as Yellowstone National Park. To help you find your way, we provide contact and transportation information, maps, and driving directions.

Learn about the history of Big Sky since its inception by Chet Huntley and its affiliation with other Boyne USA Resorts: Boyne Mountain, Boyne Highlands, Brighton, Crystal, Cypress, The Inn at Bay Harbor and the Gatlinburg Skylift.

Winter
So maybe there's more to Big Sky than just its unforgettable setting near Yellowstone Park. Like 400 inches of annual snowfall, 85 miles of named runs and lots of elbow room. Lift lines are basically non-existent here. The skiing and riding is the ultimate experience.

But after the lifts close, you may want to try some other snow-specific activities. If your legs aren't too tired, slow down the pace by exploring the backcountry on snowshoes or nordic skis. Memorable evenings are made at local guest ranches' sleigh rides.

You can even take a horseback ride or go flyfishing in the winter.

But maybe a soak in the hot tub or a relaxing massage is what you need. You choose. After all, this is a place all your own.

Trails and Routes

General:

Big Sky Resort in Montana offers you three mountains graced by over 400 inches of annual snowfall to delight skiers and snowboarders. Our signature Lone Peak rises to a lofty 11,166 feet with European-style expert terrain accessed by the Lone Peak Tram. Andesite Mountain has some of the resort's most notable intermediate trails, some comfortable south-facing beginner trails, several expert tree runs and a giant half-pipe and terrain park with rail slides. Flat Iron Mountain is on the eastern shoulder of Andesite and offers even more variety.

Big Sky has a total of 3,600 expansive acres, 4,350 jaw-dropping vertical feet and over 150 named trails. Our reputation for short or non-existent lift lines makes this truly a place all your own. We hope you'll experience it for yourself this winter.

Cross-country Skiing  Glide over 65 groomed kilometers of nationally ranked cross-country ski trails at Lone Mountain Ranch. Lessons, rentals and guided tours are available. Or check out the Rendezvous Trails in West Yellowstone.

Venture next door to Beehive Basin, Porcupine Creek or other parts of neighboring Gallatin National Forest, or tour Yellowstone National Park. Stop in the local shops for area maps, advice on trails, rental equipment and updated avalanche forecasts.
Snowboarding  Big Jumps. Big Pipe. Big Air. Big Sky.
Halfpipe:We are hoping to have the halfpipe open for Christmas. We will know more once we are able to blow some snow in it. So keep your eyes and ears tuned for those snowmaking guns. Snowmaking will start in the pipe soon.

Terrain Park:We are up to 12 features in the park already. This makes the park crew very happy. We are sure that makes you folks…the park riders….very happy as well. We will try and have at least two more features open by this weekend. We are also very excited about our new rails. Look for the new rails to start appearing soon.
Snowmobiling  Enjoy the beauty of Big Sky traveling by snowmobile in the Gallatin National Forest and on Buck Creek Ridge.
Snowshoeing  Rent top-of-the-line snowshoes and check out the resort's new trail, Moose Tracks, that starts at the base of Andesite and Lone Mountains.

Big Sky is unchalenged in the catagory of all around best ski resort in MT & is one of america's best also. I will be rating the resort on a scale of one being the worst to ten being the best. Ridge= 9, Park=10( if it's rails and boxes you lookin for this is the park for you, it also has a 2nd more advanced park with huge jumps and the biggest pipe in montana). Overal=10.(Moonlight Basin is a ski resort right next to big sky, it is also a great resort)
