When you visit Big White you’ll find out what real snow is all about. Big White is blessed by over 24 feet of 100% natural champagne powder per year. It’s the sort of snow that makes average skiers and boarders look like real heroes.
The comfortable daytime temperatures average 3 C (27F), is cold enough to keep the snow light and fluffy, yet perfect for skiing, riding, and cross country skiing and winter activities.
Big White averages 24.5 feet (7.5 metres) per year of fresh champagne powder. Local’s call it “Hero Snow” because it makes you look so good!! The mountain’s amazing 2,765 acres of skiable terrain make it the second biggest mountain in British Columbia. Big White’s abundant snowfall, mild temperatures and plenty of sunshine make it an ideal place for skiers of any level. Every night after the lifts close, our expert grooming team set out to deliver velvety swales of corduroy for your skiing pleasure. | Skiing | Skiing at Big White has just become even better with six new runs at Gem Lake and the new Cliff Chair. This much talked about and anticipated chair will open up Big White’s famous "Cliff Area" and expand the eastern side of the mountain. Meanwhile, there has also been expansion on the western side, with six new intermediate runs adding just under 200 acres of skiable terrain. The new runs at Gem Lake will increase the variety of trails and is just the first phase of expansion to this fantastic and exciting area of the mountain. | | Snowboarding | Snowboarders keep coming back to experience the variety of runs, from the exhilarating glades to the steep chutes at Gem Lake. Big White also has a brand new terrain park boasting an Olympic size superpipe, snowcross course and rail park. TELUS Park is a winter playground like no other.
Snowboarders will love the snowmaking and lights for night riding, boarder cross, and the double chair for faster access. | | Snowmobiling | This exciting guided tour takes guests on guided scenic tours through the forest trails and back country of Big White Ski Resort. Drive your own snow mobile or double up with a friend.
Tours depart daily at 8:30 am, 11:00 am, 1:30 pm and 4:00 pm. Drivers must have a current drivers’ license. People under 19 require parent or guardian to sign a waiver. The tour includes safety gear and hot chocolate.

| | Snowshoeing | Big White has some stunning scenery, so why not tour our wooded trails on foot, allowing yourself to fully appreciate the mountain’s breathtaking beauty? A 2-hour guided snowshoe tour departs at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. This includes snowshoe rental, light refreshments and an interpretive guide.

With groomed runs prepared nightly and green runs accessed from every lift, even a beginner will experience the thrill of big mountain skiing and riding at Big White. Renowned for glades, cruisers and bowl skiing, Big White has won numerous ‘Best in Canada’ awards including ‘Best Variety of Terrain’, ‘Best Glade Skiing’ and ‘Best Grooming’.
Weather
Big White Ski Resort has been awarded “Best Weather” by Ski Canada Magazine. The average temperature is only -6 C (21F). The mild temperatures combined with abundant snowfalls provide endless days of sunshine and fresh lines.
Grooming
It’s no wonder Big White keeps winning awards like “Best Grooming in the West” by Ski Canada Magazine; Big White Ski Resort makes it a practice to groom virtually all green and blue runs every night. The steeper runs, those tilled with a winch cat, are groomed to perfection on a regular basis and a special pipe dragon is used to cut the half pipes and the Super Pipe.
