Canada Olympic Park
The most visible legacy of the XV Olympic Winter Games in Calgary, Canada Olympic Park functions as a multi-purpose competitions, training, recreation and hospitality area designed for year-round use by athletes, visitors and the general public. In the winter, C.O.P. is home to more than 290,000 ski and snowboard guests, and features lessons and programs for people of all ages and abilities. C.O.P. also offers introductory programs for the public to experience the sports of bobsleigh, luge, skeleton and ski jumping. In the summer months, C.O.P. boasts a mountain bike park, which includes more than 25 kilometres of single and open-track trails, an obstacle course and trials park, beginner BMX track and freeride stunts. The facility also conducts lessons, clinics, camps, race leagues, rentals and organizes leagues and tournaments for slo-pitch and beach volleyball, as well as a number of women’s and kids sport adventure camps. The Park plays host to more than one million annual guests from around the globe. Each day tourists can hop into a pair of skis, jump on a luge sled or experience the Olympic Odyssey Tour – an opportunity to explore the Olympic Hall of Fame and Museum and the new Ice House, CODA’s national sliding centre. Both international and national high-performance athletes train at the Ice House and the tour offers guests the opportunity to watch up-close as Olympic and National athletes practice their starts - the most crucial element in any sliding sport. The Tour also provides guests a close-up look of the Olympic track and takes them to the observation deck of the 90-metre ski jump tower, the highest point in Calgary. The Park also features the Naturbahn Teahouse - a great venue for weddings and meetings, but also known for its scrumptuous Sunday Brunch with its phenomenal view of the Rocky Mountains to the west. A CODA facility, Canada Olympic Park aims to be the most innovative sport, recreation and tourist facility in the world.
