Olivier Gittler wins WSC 2012 QP
TUESDAY, 21 FEBRUARY 2012
French burn team rider Olivier Gittler (FRA) showed the world the meaning of style and amplitude last night at the 2012 World Snowboard Championships in Oslo Norway, by taking 1st place in the Quarterpipe contest held in Oslo's Holmenkollen ski jumping stadium in front of 5000 people.
On a 10m high quarterpipe designed by legendary snowboarder Terje Haakenson, the crowd went wild as Olivier stomped a perfect Mctwist with huge amplitude and style, to win the overall prize and €30,000.
Olivier, who has been slowly returning to form after a serious injury 2 years ago, was over the moon: "Terje is my idol and actually taught me how to do Mctwists, so to have won tonight and stand next to him on the podium spraying champagne in his face is the best feeling ever!"
