Planet Tirol: Rookie Riders & Freeskiers Wanted
FRIDAY, 17 DECEMBER 2010
With sensational skills and performances, rookies consistently cause a stir at contests and
jam sessions. Planet Tirol wants to support these young riders to help them make their first
steps into professional sports and set the course for the future. That’s why the action sports
video platform is now searching for the 2011 rookie riders in snowboarding and freeskiing. If
you are a young freeskier or snowboarder not older than 18, you can make an application
with a short movie clip that you can upload to www.planet-tirol.com. An expert jury consisting
of pro riders from Tyrol’s sports scene will choose the PLANET TIROL ROOKIE 2011 in both
categories. In addition, there will be a public voting and further non-cash prizes to be won.
All riders up to 18 years of age are eligible
The Planet Tirol Rookie Wanted! video contest kicks off today. The closing date is the 23rd
of January 2011. All snowboarders and freeskiers who are not older than 18 (date of birth:
24th of January 1992 and younger) are allowed to join in the video contest and apply with a
video. You just have to upload the video to www.planet-tirol.com. The clip should include a
short description of yourself, some action scenes showing your skills as well as some
information on your previous successes and future plans.
At the end of January, a pro jury with Tyrolean athletes will choose the PLANET TIROL
ROOKIE in both categories. Both will be rewarded with financial support, advice by pro riders
and the opportunity to take part in well-known contests. Video messages, blog and facebook
entries will continuously report on both PLANET TIROL ROOKIES.
The prizes
The winners in both categories will be rewarded with a sponsorship by Planet Tirol involving
a Planet Tirol head sponsoring worth € 1,000, a maximum € 500 travel budget, a coaching
session with freeski pro Martin Misof or the Ästhetiker Snowboard Crew as well as the
participation in a prominent freeski or snowboard contest.
As a further sweetener and award for the participants, there also non-cash prizes by
Grounded Europe and Blue Tomato are to be won. The “darling of the public” (participant
with the highest public voting) will be awarded with the participation in a SAAC avalanche
camp.
