Spring-A-Ma-Jig, Mountain High’s annual spring break celebration, begins this Saturday, March 27th, with terrific events like Pond Skimming and the Frozen T-Shirt Contest. The Dirty Heads (Sublime with their new singer) will be performing live at 12pm. And the Miss Mountain High Bikini Contest begins at 1pm with guest judge and Mountain High team rider, Louie Vito.

The Miss Mountain
High Pageant is free to all participants. Winner takes home a 2010/11 Season Pass, a 3 Day Passes to Coachella, and is named next year’s Miss Mountain High. Registration begins on the West deck at 11:00am and all entrants receive a free bikini from Fresh Peaches. Competition kicks off at 1:00pm and all contestants must be 18 years of age or older. There will be a meet & great with the new Miss Mountain High immediately following the event, and pro snowboarder, Louie Vito, will be signing posters for all his fans.

Spring A Ma Jig takes place every Saturday and Sunday now through April 11th. Each day is filled with terrific events and live music, DJs, or celebrity radio remotes. All activities are free with admission and there are great prizes for the winners.

11:00am Big Ollie – Snowboarders must “ollie” as high as they can in this heart pumping competition. The bar goes up after each round until only one rider remains.

12:00pm Tug O War – A new spin on an old favorite. This Tug of War takes place in the snow and the loosing team might end up in the pond.

1:00pm Frozen T-Shirt Contest – 10 t-shirts have been frozen in the icy tundra of Mountain High’s North Resort and the competitors must break them apart and put them on. First one to dawn their frozen shirt wins a goody bag filled with Mountain High schwag.

2:00pm Spin To Win – Height is not so much the issue as rotation in this fun jump contest. Skiers and snowboarders must spin as many times as they can in a single leap.

3:00pm Pond Skimming – The quintessential event at any spring break. Skiers and snowboarders must cross a 40 foot pond filled with freezing cold water or suffer the consequences.

Thanks to the warm weather and fun events, spring is a fantastic time to ski and snowboard. With more snow expected early next month, Mountain High plans to remain open until late April if not early May. Join us for what promises to be the best spring in years, and save some money with the resort’s late season ticket deals.

America appears to have not only tuned into last month’s Winter Olympics in big numbers, but had especially positive regard for NBC’s presentation of the event, according to a new Q & A Research poll of more than 300 households nationwide.

Nearly 3 in 4 Americans (73%) claimed to have watched this year’s Games, with a reported average of more than 20 viewing hours each.

Figu
re skating, hockey, speed skating, alpine, and snowboarding events emerged as the most popular among viewers.

More than half of all respondents rated NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics as excellent or very good. What’s more, fully a third (37%) felt that the overall coverage was superior to previous Winter Olympics’ broadcasts they had witnessed.

Bob Costas received particularly high marks in his capacity as Primetime Host, with 52% of survey takers giving him an excellent or very good rating. 72% would like to see him return in that role for the 2014 Games in Sochi, Russia. For lesser-known Late Night Host Mary Carillo, reviews were more modest, with 32% and 59% on these two measures, respectively.

Complaints about the coverage were relatively few in number. “Among the most common negatives was a perception of too much in-studio commentary,” said Q & A Research President, Warren Pino. “But that’s not much of a surprise. Viewers tune in to see athletes performing, not necessarily to see people talking about athletes performing.”

Some survey participants were also frustrated by NBC’s election to tape-delay numerous broadcasts, rather than to feed its audience live competition.
