Ride'n’Shoot enters the critical phase: up to the 26th of April 2009, you still have the chance to send in your best Kitzsteinhorn snow park picture of this season and win ! 350 cash. And talking of snow parks: DC Central Park and Roxy Park are ready for a great season’s finish presenting themselves in perfect shape. And with the Glacier Park being open until late May, there’s still two mont hs to shred the kickers and rails of the Kitzsteinhorn!

Ride'n’Shoot is the sickest photo comp of the season! Anybody who wants to take part just has to send his best snow park picture of this season to foto@kitzsteinhorn.at until the 26th of April 2009. The pic must have been taken at the Kitzsteinhorn Mellow Park in the course of the current season between October 08 and April 09. Every participant is allowed to send three pictures in, each as a JPG with maximum 2 MB. A top-notch jury will judge the pictures: snowboard pro Bjoern Hartweger, freeski pro Patrick Hollaus, snow park specialist Tommi “Mellow" Marsh and photographer Florian Jaeger. The photographers of the best pictures in the snowboard and freeski categories will win ! 350 cash each. Plus, non-cash prizes by DC and Roxy are up for grabs and all participants have the chance to win one of the eleven all-day ski passes for the Kitzsteinhorn that will be raffled. The fat award ceremony will take place at the Castle Kaprun on the 2nd of May 2009 from 11 pm.

Springtime finish at the Kitzsteinhorn Mellow Park At present, the Kitzsteinhorn Mellow Park offers perfect conditions for a cool photo shooting. For example, the highlights at the DC Central Park are two pro kickers with 18-metre tables, a 15-metre long and 3-metre wide A-Box and a cliff jump. Here, also the daily Volvo XC ICE CAMP Style Sessions take place: local pros and coaches show riders how to improve their park shredding. The DC Central Park with its 19 obstacles will be open until late April at least – just as the 80-metre long and 5-metre high half-pipe and the Roxy Park at the Sonnenkarbahn. With its four jumps and eleven jib obstacles, the Roxy Park is the perfect park for beginners and intermediates. When the DC Central Park and the Roxy Park will close, the Glacier Park up at the glacier will open its doors again offering several kickers and jib obstacles until late May.

With the legendary X-Over Ride freeride and slopestyle contest on the 11th and 12th of April 2009, the School of Style freestyle & new school camp from the 13th to the 17th of April 2009 and the Ride'n’Roll slopestyle contest on the 02nd of May 2009, enough competitions will happen at the Kitzsteinhorn to once again put down the throttle at the end of the season – with loads of snow and spring sun!

Winter Games NZ today announced natural luge has been added to the Winter Games NZ (WGNZ) programme as a demonstration sport on the Southern Hemisphere’s only natural luge track in Naseby, Central Otago.

A variation of the more commonly known Olympic luge that takes place on an artificially refrigerated track, natural luge is the ‘4WD’ of the sport, taking place on an un-banked track
with a base of hard-packed snow covered in a layer of ice, enclosed within low wooden walls.

The sport is as exciting for spectators as it is for participants with competitors descending on their back, feet first, expecting to reach speeds of up to 70kph on Naseby’s 360, 10-curve track. The sled is flexible and directed down the course by the skill of the athlete applying pressure to the runners on the bottom of the sled, together with a rein to provide additional steering control.

“We are continually approached by sports wanting to be part of the Games but have been very selective for our first Games,” said WGNZ CEO, Arthur Klap. “However, natural luge has that intrigue factor that will make it a positive addition to the programme. Once again it is the community of Naseby that has taken the initiative and built a track that finishes outside the ice stadium that will host the curling.”

New Zealand Luge president, Geoff Balme, has long been advocating for his sport and is delighted at the sport being included.

“We know that natural luge has wide appeal and the location is just magic,” he said after demonstration sport status was confirmed by the Winter Games NZ board.

The natural luge will be held on Sunday August 23rd with a training day on Saturday 22nd August.

Three is the magic number and this is the third opportunity of its kind from Nikita offering a couple of lucky ladies the chance to shine among some of our best team riders, in our Spring/Summer 2010 photoshoot that will take place in Miami this spring. Two lucky girls will be picked to join the Nikita team for the photoshoot, earning a spot in all our Spring/Summer 2010 catalogues, websites and perhaps some full page ads in international magazines! Will one of them be …you?!

All you have to do to take part is send in some pictures of yourself as the new Nikita girl! Photos can be as entertaining, wild and creative as you want to make them but most importantly, we want to see what you look like and hear in your own words what you enjoy doing. Make sure to understand that we will be shooting some bikinis as well as our full streetwear line!

Just make sure to get your entries in before 15th April 2009 as the photoshoot will be taking place just following selection, from 4th – 12th May 2009, so we’ll need enough time to get your flights booked and let everyone know you’ll be joining us!

ENTRY DETAILS:

N.B.
Include your name, address, date of birth and contact details
You can send in as many pictures as you want but total file size of all the pictures must not exceed 2 MB
