The 2008-2009 US Snowboarding Grand Prix Tour is scheduled to make a pit stop at the Boreal Mountain Resort in Truckee, California on January 30 to February 1, 2009. This US snowboarding tour is now on its 13th year.

World-class snowboarders will gather at Boreal Mountain Resort to battle it out on a custom-built boardercross course and on a superpipe with 22-foot walls. Nate Holland, Seth Wescott, Tommy Czeschin, Hannah Teter, Lindsey Jacobellis, and the defend
ing US Snowboarding Grand Prix champion Louie Vito are some of the elite snowboarders who are expected to take part in the competition.

Matt Rivera, a passionate snowboarder who dropped out of high school in Leadville, Colorado to pursue snowboarding, recently received a $20,000 scholarship to learn about the skiing industry.

The scholarship was given by Vail Resorts. It covers the expenses for tuition, room and board, books, as well as other fees needed for his studies.

Rivera will soon attend Colorado Mountain College Timberline Campus, located in Leadville, to pursue an associated de
gree in ski area operations.

According to the young snowboarder, he hopes to work for either Vail or Beaver Creek after earning his degree.

Amplid is proud to announce that John Rodosky has signed an agreement with the Amplid Research Cartel. John is from Laguna Beach, Orange County, but lives and rides up at Jackson Hole during the winter months.

Asking John, how he is describing his riding style, he stated: "Tricks are for kids, I only do stunts and maneuvers... I'm all about the crowd pleasers, like backflips off flat boxes!"

Amplid is looking forward to have this long-term relations
hip with Rodosky. "He is an extremely talented and motivated athlete - kids will get to see his riding in the Amplid Team Video being released this autumn," says Amplid Founder Peter Bauer, "plus John has an extraordinary feel for equipment, flexlines, and materials... a very important add in our research team as well."

Canada's First Nations Snowboard Team will be going to Vancouver this coming weekend to take part in a training camp that will prepare them not just for the upcoming snowboarding season but eventually for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the said training which will be sponsored by YWCA, 25 members of the team's high performance division will receive first-rate coaching, advice, and training on nutrition, sports psychology, conditioning, and more.

First
Nations Snowboard Team was established back in 2004 and is supported by the Aboriginal Youth Sport Legacy Fund. Its main objective is to help young natives improve their quality of life. At present, the team is made up of nine divisions with 140 athletes.

Everyone is welcome to celebrate World Snowboard Day on December 21. This is a worldwide celebration that is all about snowboarding and other fun-filled activities.

The 2008 World Snowboard Day will be presented by European Boardsports Industry Manufacturers Association or EuroSIMA, in collaboration with the World Snowboard Federation or WSF. In this year's celebration, more than 15 countries, 60 resorts, and a hundred organizers will be working together to have
a historical World Snowboard Day.

The event will include demos, initiations, concerts, product testing, signing with professional snowboarders, activities on environmental awareness, barbecue parties, and free snowboarding.
