Skiing, Snowboarding as Colorado's State Sports
WEDNESDAY, 26 MARCH 2008
Colorado has been renowned worldwide as the premier destination for winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding. Thus, it only seems logical that William Kane, a nine-year old Lakewood resident would propose to State Representative Gwyn Green to officially name skiing and snowboarding as the official state sports.
The kid’s initiative is now recognized as House Joint Resolution 1008. Once approved, this will make skiing and snowboarding as the official winter sports of Colorado.
The renowned winter sports will join the list of other symbols of the state such as the White and Lavender Columbine, the Colorado Blue Spruce, and the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep.
