G4 Goes Back to The Block for New Series

FRIDAY, 28 MARCH 2008

LOS ANGELES - G4 is back at “The Block", giving viewers a free lift ticket toward a second season of the reality series filmed at the world’s only hotels run by and for snowboarders. The cameras are back on the mountain for all-new half-hour episodes that deliver a candid look at the insanity of “The Block", where the action behind the front desk is only topped by what happens on the slopes. The second season of "The Block" premieres Sunday, April 20th at 5:30 pm, ET/PT, only on G4. Following the season premiere, new half-hour episodes will air in their regular timeslot on Sunday nights at 11:00 pm ET/PT.

The first season of “The Block” gave viewers a chance to check out the action in Lake Tahoe. The second season begins with check-in at The Block’s branch in Big Bear, California, a town that thrives on an active snowboarding culture. An all-new cast also arrives at the all-new location - The Block’s hard-partying employees who are dedicated to boarding, having fun, and even occasionally doing a little work. It’s up to the hotel’s owners (pro snowboarding icon Marc Frank Montoya and hotel entrepreneur Liko Smith) to balance the company and the craziness to make sure The Block’s guests live in true rock star style.

"We couldn’t wait to get back to ’The Block’ and its authentic look at life as a snowboarder,” said Neal Tiles, president, G4. "From globetrotting pros to hardcore amateurs, the series lets viewers experience a lifestyle most people never get to witness.”

The new season kicks off with staff training in early winter and careens through the peak snowboarding season. In between, each episode of “The Block” lets viewers follow the action in Big Bear and watch as the hotel’s staff interacts with each other and parties with the crazy characters who make the hotel their winter home.

“The Block” hotels are designed to cater the specific needs and interests of snowboarders, with special suites that feature amenities such as sit-down arcade stands, unique 1980s design or even padded walls and stripper poles. All rooms come equipped with PS2 game consoles, boot/glove dryers, cordless phones and iPod-compatible mini boom boxes, and guests receive free energy drinks, free beer (21 years and over), snacks, DVDs, and PlayStation video games at check-in.
