Blue Skies for the Cadbury Moro Slopestyle Series
TUESDAY, 25 SEPTEMBER 2007
The final event in the 2007 Cadbury Moro Slopestyle Series at The Remarkables took place under beautiful blue skies in the UP & GO Terrain Park on Monday, September 17.
40 freestylers on skis and snowboards turned up to enjoy riding the park features in the final of the season series. Now in its ninth year, the Cadbury Moro Slopestyle involved four events over two months.
The event was run in a jam format where riders could ride the park for two hours simply signaling to the judges when they were ready to have their runs judged.
Bringing the series to a close, Youth Action Sports Co-ordinator Josh Clark thanked supporters and sponsors including Cadbury Moro, Ride Snowboards, Smith Optics, Sessions Outerwear, Quest retail, DB Export and Buffalo Club.
Winners were:
Open Men Snowboard – Keiji Okamoto
Open Men Ski – Jacques Mortimore
Junior Men Snowboard -- Alex Harper
Junior Men Ski -- Matt Soundy
Open Women Snowboard -- Shelly Gothieb
Open Women Ski -- Janina Kuzma
Junior Women Snowboard -- Leah Pihama
Junior Women Ski -- Nicole Andrews
A cash and product prize pool valued at around $3000 was shared by the winners.
“This was a relaxed but competitive event held in the UP & GO Terrain Park,” said Josh. “Freestylers were buzzing about the standard of the park and the new rails and features this year. The event provided great spectator action and the park crew did an awesome job of keeping the park in top shape for two months. Looking forward to be back bigger and better next winter.
