IRVINE, CA - Forum Snowboards is proud to announce that for a fifth consecutive season, its Youngblood Series will bring amateur snowboarding jams to 13 resorts throughout the U.S. and Canada from January th rough the end of March 2007.

After four years of running the most well-recognized amateur snowboarding contest series in the world, this season Forum has totally flipped the switch and is taking a much more laid-back, grassroots approach to its signature Youngblood Series.

For 2007, the biggest change is that there are no divisions or classes. Therefore, at each event male and female riders of all ages and abilities will battle it out for Youngblood supremacy in a no-holdsbarred, SNAKE SESSIONS contest format designed to mimic a heated day on the hill where it's snake or be snaked. Additionally, Forum's team of world-class pro riders will call the shots on how the events run, ensuring no two are exactly the same. Each 'hometown' pro will set the rules, select the terrain (superpipe, rail, quaterpipe, booter, etc.), and serve as head judge.

All Forum Youngblood SNAKE SESSIONS are free to enter with registration taking place at host resorts the morning of each competition. To the victor go the spoils in the form of a grip of rad 2007 Forum gear as well as a coveted 'check out' on Forum's website. That's right, first place finishers will have an exclusive interview accompanied by choice photos posted on forumsnowboards.com. Furthermore, male and female competitors 18 years of age and younger will vie for a lucrative spot onForum's prestigious Youngblood Team.

Forum's eagerly-awaited SNAKE SESSIONS are made possible in part through generous support from returning sponsor Snickers. And Mt. Hood's own, Cobra Dogs, will be along for the ride as well this year, filling up riders with free hot dogs at select tour stops. Log on to www.forumsnowboards.com to find out more.

The 2007 Youngblood event schedule includes the following dates, resorts and host riders:

ZEL AM SEE, Salzburg, Austria - The next race of the Jeep® King of the Mountain (www.jeepsports.com) 2006-2007 Skiing & Snowboarding World Professional Championships may not take place until Jan. 20, but the buzz surrounding the event and the roster of athletes set to compete at Europa-Sportregion Zell am See-Kaprun in Salzburg, Austria, is well underway.

On the heels of an electrifying season-opening race at Snowbird, Utah, which saw Winter Olympic snowboard-cross gold and silver medalists, Seth Wescott and Lindsey Jacobellis, captured titles in their rookie Jeep King of the Mountain campaigns, the action is expected to only get more intense when the event heads outside of North America for the first time in its illustrious 14-year history.

On hand Jan. 20 at Europa-Sportregion Zell am See-Kaprun will be 12 of the world's elite snowboard athletes battling one another for the title of World Professional Champion and a share of the richest cash payout in the sport, topping $450,000 plus $20,000 in bonus cash from John Paul Mitchell Systems and the keys to a new 2007 Jeep Patriot.

To say the field will be an accomplished lot would be an understatement. Aside from National Championships, World Championships and World Cup titles, the line-up will include eight Winter Olympians who have pre-qualified as well as at least three Winter Olympians looking to earn a spot through the National Open Qualifier race on Jan. 19.

In the men's snowboarding standings, Farmington, Maine's Wescott currently holds the points lead, trailed by Canada's Drew Neilson, a 2006 Winter Olympian with six World Cup titles, a Continental Cup Championship, a and a slew of gold, silver and bronze medals from the Winter X Games. In third is Nate Holland, a 2006 Winter Olympian from Squaw Valley, Calif., who won the New Zealand National Championship. Other contenders in Zel am See-Kaprun will

include defending World Professional Champion Graham Watanabe of Park City, Utah, who raced in the 2006 Winter Olympics, and the notorious Shaun Palmer of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., who this season is competing in both the snowboarding and skiing competitions. Palmer's illustrious career includes five snowboard World Championships, Winter X Games and Gravity Games gold medals in skiing, super-cross designation in the sport of moto-cross, and a mountain biking World Championship. The loudest cheers are sure to be directed at Austria's Mario Fuchs, a 2006 Winter Olympian and Austrian National Champion.

"The field in Snowbird was tremendous," said Wescott. "Meeting Drew (Neilson) in the finals was a pleasure as he and I have been racing against one another since 1997 and I consider him on any given day one of the world's top three."

Through the extremely popular National Open Qualifier competition, a number of standouts are expected to try and gain entry in the World Professional Championships. Already, the list includes the runners-up to Wescott at the 2006 Winter Olympics, silver medalist Radoslav Zidek of Slovakia and bronze medalist Paul-Henri Delerue of France. Jeep King of the Mountain veteran Dieter Krassnig of Austria, a three-time Winter Olympian, is yet another favorite who may tap his vast experience to make a run at the title.

"I feel the field in Austria may be even deeper than what we had in Snowbird," said Wescott. "I expect a large turnout of European racers for the National Open Qualifier, and everyone will be fired up as the race takes place the week right after the World Championships."

In women's snowboarding, Stowe, Vt.'s Jacobellis will have to fend off a field as diverse as it is deep. On her heels is Julie Pomagalski of France, a Jeep King of the Mountain title winner last year who has amassed two French National Championships, a World Championship and nine World Cup titles in her career. And it's only a matter of time before Doresia Krings of Austria, a 2006 Winter Olympian and two-time defending World Professional Champion, makes her move to reclaim the crown. Adding to the intrigue in Zel am See-Kaprun will be the debut of Jacobellis' rival from the Torino, Italy games, gold medal winner Tanja Frieden of Switzerland. She will no doubt look to replicate the instant success of her American counterpart. Also in the hunt is Seattle, Wash.'s Marni Yamada, a member of the U.S. Snowboard Team, and the Open Qualifier candidates, many of who are members of the Austrian snowboard squad.

While the surroundings may be new to the athletes, the Jeep King of the Mountain Series' innovative Y-cross racecourse will again serve as a competitive factor. The course, which delivers high-speed excitement, requires equal parts instinct, patience and nerve from its challengers. For the first part of the course, two competitors must navigate the dual features section consisting of single and double rollers. Once through this section, the two courses converge into a single course, forming the approximate shape of a Y. The second section features terrain characteristics of snowboard-cross racing, including banked turns, jumps, and tabletops. Athletes must be able to "work" the terrain features in order to generate extra speed, use techniques such as NASCAR-style drafting, and feel comfortable with another racer literally breathing down their neck.

"This was my first time to race on the Y-cross, and I liked it very much," said Wescott. "I started my race career in ISF and FIS, which has four to six racers on the course at one time, so it was a nice change of pace to get into head-to-head racing with just one other athlete. It allows you to focus more on the line and creation of speed instead of everything going crazy around you."

The snowboard exclusive race at Europa-Sportregion Zell am See-Kaprun will air on Feb. 17, 2007, from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. on CBS Sports. Next, the Jeep King of the Mountain Series heads to Taos Ski Valley in New Mexico for a ski-only race. The season's grand finale, set for March 3, 2007 at Telluride Ski Resort in Colorado, will feature both snowboard and ski racing. Each race of the 2006-2007 Skiing & Snowboarding World Professional Championships will air on CBS Sports, with additional broadcast coverage on nationally syndicated television.

Vancouver’s Teck Cominco Limited will be near the heart of every athlete who earns a spot on the podium in 2010 following today’s announcement that it has been selected as an Official Supporter (Mining and M etals Category) for the 2010 Winter Games and exclusive supplier of metals for every gold, silver and bronze medal awarded during the Games.

"Athletes around the world are training to earn the right to stand on the podium in 2010 and Teck Cominco will play a key role in ensuring their medals - the ultimate symbol of athletic excellence - are shining examples of Canada’s mining industry," said Vancouver 2010 CEO John Furlong.

Teck Cominco’s six-year partnership with the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) provides sponsorship rights for the 2010 Winter Games, and the Canadian Olympic Teams participating at the Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010 and London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Teck Cominco’s commitment will also involve working with VANOC and the Royal Canadian Mint in the development and production of Olympic and Paralympic medals for 2010.

"Teck Cominco is thrilled to become part of Canada’s Games, and to help welcome the world to Canada and British Columbia in 2010," said Teck Cominco president and CEO Don Lindsay. "The Olympic and Paralympic medals inspire people everywhere to realize their full potential, in whatever they do. We are proud to supply the gold, silver and bronze for the medals that are the source of so much inspiration for the world."

"This is a great opportunity for all of us at Teck Cominco to get involved in a once-in-a-lifetime event, and to make a real difference in our own lives and in the lives of others," added Lindsay. "We are excited to be on the Vancouver 2010 team and to have this opportunity to participate."

Teck Cominco will also work with the Vancouver Organizing Committee on sustainability initiatives.

"Staging sustainable Games that leave lasting legacies for generations to enjoy is part of VANOC’s vision for 2010 and we are committed to working with partners like Teck Cominco to ensure we are leaders in environmental innovation and footprint reduction," said Furlong.

"Sustainability is an important feature of our 2010 Winter Games partnership," added Lindsay. "Teck Cominco is looking forward to working with VANOC to help achieve sustainability legacies for the 2010 Winter Games."

A Gibson guitar in the one hand, a 10,000 Euro cheque in the other: 16-year-old Jamie Anderson from the USA was beaming with happiness - just like Cheryl Maas from the Netherlands and Jenny Jones from the UK on second and third rank. The ROXY CHICKEN JAM on December 15 and 16, 2006 at Europasportregion Zell am See/Kaprun proved: The female snowboarders know how to rock the slopestyle parks - and this girls-only snowboard event has its very own, super-friendly atmosphere.

"It was the first contest in Europe that I've been to," the winner Jamie Anderson said. "It was rad! Cool set-up, a lot of money to give away and fine people." Jamie convinced the judges with solid tricks and consistent runs. In her best run, she showed a frontside boardslide to fakie, cab 540, frontside 360 and a huge McTwist at the quarter-pipe.

25 female riders took part in the Main Session of the ROXY CHICKEN JAM on Saturday. Each of them had four runs with the best one counting. At the varied Glacier Park on Kitzsteinhorn with its various kickers, a butter box, quarter-pipe, straight box, up and down box, A-box and C-box, the best female snowboarders from all over the world proved that their sports has reached a new level: they showed switch 720s, cab 540s and a wide range of impressive rail moves.

"The girls riding has become really mature," Dani "Kiwi" Meier said who was heading the jury with judges Mone Monsberger, Stefan Gimpl and Leslie McKenna. Matthias Hofmann from Innsbruck, the organizer of the contest was also happy - especially because the event had to be moved from St. Moritz to Kaprun within ten days: "It was a tough time but we had the full support of Kitzsteinhorn and the Europasportregion Zell am See/Kaprun." His conclusion: "A lot of sun, super performances, an excellent park, many spectators - what more can you expect from a snowboard event!"

Apart from the Gibson guitar and the prize-money, Jamie Anderson also grabbed 1,000 points for the Women's TTR World Snowboard Tour and is now leading the overall ranking. Cheryl Maas who had won the Women's TTR series last year was happy about her second place at the ROXY CHICKEN JAM: "I'm superstoked I got second. The contest was fun!" In her best run, Cheryl showed a frontside boardslide to fakie, Cab 180 on/Backside 360 down the butter box, a huge backside 720 at the big kicker and a backside air at the quarter-pipe.

Third place went to Jenny Jones from the UK. She said: "I was impressed that they managed to transfer the event from one place to another within a week. It was good that they kept running it! We are having a good time and it's just giving girls a proper chance to show what we can do." What Jenny showed: boardslide to fakie, a huge backside 360, a frontside 540 nose grab and a backside air at the quarter-pipe.

Basa Stevulova from Slovakia won the Gibson Rail Rocker Award at the Best Rail Trick Contest. Just like Anderson, she got a Gibson guitar. "I have to learn to play!" she said. But if she is going to play the guitar like she is rocking the rails expect a new rock star to come!
