Jamie Nicholls Dominates the Slopes with Nike 6.0
MONDAY, 25 SEPTEMBER 2006
Jamie Nicholls has truly made his mark on the snowboarding industry, proven with continuing podium placements in respected competitions. Most impressively, at just 13 years old, he took 1st place in the Senior Men’s category at the 2006 Orange AIM Series held at the British Indoor Slopestyle Championship in Glasgow, Scotland last 5th August.
Nicholls performed a super technical run in the said competition including a 270 on to backside lipslide on the down rail and a cab 270 on 270 off over the box to take the overall men’s title. With that, he didn’t only edge out his opponents but also set another British record in snowboarding.
After that, Nicholls also dominated the following AIM Series leg held at Milton Keynes on the 19th by getting a 1st place in the Junior category.
As if it weren’t enough, the 13-year-old competed in the next leg of the Series in Rossendale last weekend, in spite of the hand injury he got while practicing. Nicholls successfully reached the men's final where he was tied at 1st place with 18 year-old Collum Mytton.
The organizers, however, decided that a tie was unsuitable, therefore a super final was staged for both riders. On their first try, they both landed with a 900 so they had to do another trick. Nicholls took it a step further with a 1080 and got 90 degrees off, while Collum landed his switch underflip and so just pipped Jamie to take the win.
Nicholls, just like many up-and-coming athletes, is being supported by Nike 6.0. It aims to nurture the talents of the likes of Nicholls in a variety of disciplines such as surfing, skateboarding, mountain biking, BMXing and snowboarding.
