Those who look at rabbis or any religious figure for that matter as overly serious people who do not have time for fun, then Colorado's Rabbi Jamie Korngold may just make you change your mind.

In a feature written by Melissa Trujillo of the Associated Press, she writes about Korng
old and her unusual style of preaching to her congregation. The self-proclaimed "Adventure Rabbi" can preside over bar mitzvahs, weddings and other ceremonies anywhere imaginable. She can do it in ski and snowboard resorts in winter and other outdoor locations for activities such as hiking during summer.

But despite of her style, she says that she does not forget to put more weight on the religious aspect of what she does by saying that the frosting should not be a substitute for the cake.

Bad news for winter sports enthusiasts and mountaineers. The United States' Department of Energy (DOE) and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) recently published the findings of their research, which according to the authors call, "an unprecedented picture of climate chang e."

The research conducted by Steven J. Ghan and Timothy Shippert of the PNNL made full-century forecast of the climate change from 2000 to 2100 using a computer. What they discovered was a shocking revelation of what could happen to the world's snow-capped mountains in a matter of a hundred years. The Himalayas, for example, will only have 68% of its present snowpack by 2100. But the worst hit will be New Zealand which will retain only 16% of the size of its present mountain snowpack by 2100.

While it can greatly affect those who love to ski, snowboard, go mountaineering and the other sports closely-related to snow-capped mountains, it has an even greater effect on everyone in terms of its effects on the world's water supply. According to the PNNL, "the decline in winter snowpack means less spring and summer runoff from snowmelt. That translates to unprecedented pressure on people worldwide who depend on summertime melting of the winter snowpack for irrigation and drinking water."

To read more about Ghan and Shippert's findings, visit the PNNL site at www.pnl.gov and the United States International Information Programs' website at usinfo.state.gov.

If you wish to hone your free riding skills no matter what your riding level of experience is, then head on to New Zealand’s South Island and, “enjoy true winter conditions, terrain park and pipe riding,” on July and August.

The seven-day snowboard camp will help experienced
riders to develop their performance further as well as help beginners get started with the fundamentals of snowboarding. Unlike its counterparts in the North Hemisphere, this camp will devote the whole day to pure instruction and execution on the 2nd until the 4th day of the camp from the camp’s coaches.

Aside from learning free riding, participants will also get a chance to try out other sports such as bungee jumping, mountain biking, hiking and a lot more. They will also get to explore New Zealand’s scenery as well as check out the different restaurants, shops and a lot more around Queensland.

So if you wish to participate in this year’s snowboard camp, then follow this link and learn more about it.

Belgium’s Ice Mountain is back once again with this year’s Bonnie and Clyde Snowboarding Contest which will be held in Belgium on May 20. Just like the movie of the same name, a couple will team up to achieve a certain goal. But instead of living a life of crime, the couples will live a life of adventure in this competition.

The competition will provide every couple with four kickers, five types of boxes, two rails, a vessel wall and a gap jump. The winning couple will not only be this year’s Bonnie and Clyde but they will also get loads of prizes from the sponsors. The prizes include free kite, surf and wakeboard lessons, snowboards, console games and a lot more!

So if you wish to be a part of this year’s competition, sign up now at the competition’s website at www.bonnie-clyde.tk. Who knows, you might just become this year’s most wanted couple, in the world of snowboarding that is.
