Skiers and riders in Steamboat are sure not to be in want of snow right now. Steamboat reports that their famous Champagne powder is continually falling and enabling their resorts to open more terrain and lifts to their guests.
Currently, a base of 41 inches is reported at mid-mountain while the summit is reported to have a base of 57 inches. The perfect snow conditions have brought a sum of 949 acres of terrain, 58 trails, and 7 lifts open for Steamboat guests.
Steamboat boasts of having the driest and fluffiest snow in the world, thus earning the name of Champagne Powder. Also, according to meteorologists, Steamboat’s snow has 70% less moisture content than the usual snow.
