The 2010 Winter Olympics recently held in Vancouver, Canada, reminded us how “hot” winter sports are. Despite the fact that not everybody can name more than five events in the international competition, most agree that the speed and grace of winter sports is thrilling and beautiful to watch.
For a long time, winter sports such as skiing and ice skating were considered the domain of the rich and inhabitants of ‘the Frigid Zone.’ However, as many winter resorts become more affordable, even people from snow-free countries such as Taiwan are starting to take skiing vacations in Asian countries including Japan and South Korea, as well as in more traditional European locations.
During the Taipei International Sporting Goods Show (TaiSPO) -- to be held between April 29 and May 2 at the NANGANG Exhibition Hall of the Taiwan World Trade Center -- Taiwan’s sports equipment manufacturers will display their latest skiing and skating products to visitors.
Contrary to all expectations, Taiwanese companies have been producing high quality winter sports equipment for years. Aswan International Corp. (Booth # J0711a) which has 30 years of manufacturing experience under its belt, produces skiing eye protection gear such as safety glasses and goggles, ear muffs, and face shields. Aswan will showcase its latest products in the TaiSPO’s Skiing & Skating section.
Charlton Co. Ltd, (Booth # J0612) a manufacturer of snowboards, surfboards and bindings for snowboards, wakeboards and kiteboards, will also exhibit in the Skiing & Skating section. The company produces almost 100 different products and its booth will be a must for visitors interested in high-quality gear.

The Royal Gorge Route Railroad, Colorado’s first and most scenic streamliner, will host Ruchu Adhikary and Deena Bright, Colorado’s Snow at First Sight Winners, this March 17. Adhikary and Bright will be treated to a mid-day wine train excursion in the Royal Gorge Route Railroad’s Observation Dome Car featuring a four-course Colorado wine pairing from The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey in Cañon City,
Colo. and cheese, chocolate and other delicacies from a variety of Colorado purveyors. The winners will depart the Santa Fe Depot at 2 p.m. to ride the storied Colorado train on the Royal Gorge Route, originally established in 1879.

Hola! Nikita are already planning the next photoshoot for the Spring Summer 2011 look book. Packing up and heading out from 23rd April 2010, the Nikita crew and team are hitting up North West Mexico. Nikita are offering two places for two special senoritas to feature as a model in the forthcoming prized look book for next Spring Summer’s streetwear collection.
