im a pretty good snowboarder, in fact i teach beginners, however im just starting out in park this year and am trying to perfect my butterslide. im pretty ok at balancing on one foot in still position but cant seem to find the guts to try it while moving, and when i do i fall... does anyon e have any tips?

Try learning this move.... Start out low (knees and ankles bent) and with out leaning or tipping your spine (upper body) quickly slide your board to the left or the right and hold. It's kind of like shuffling your feet. Be sure to stay low and use your leading leg to push that board out as far as you can. Once you have it pushed out as far as you can start sitting down over your back leg. The lower you get the more you will press. This low stance press will allow you to learn and hold a balanced butter. If this is too vague feel free to ask some questions... Good luck!

Along with that, another great excercise for balance is to practice at home on carpet (stationary of course) Toss yourself back so you are balanced on the tail of your board and your back hand is on the ground. Try to push yourself forward and balance. You can also do this against a wall so you can push yourself up and down along the wall. It is great for getting the feel of balancing on the tail.
