When you land your 1, are you also doing a bit of ground spinning? This is a common problem when learning the spin. Over rotating will cause problems like that after the landing as the edge catches. One thing that helps is as you come around, spot the landing and keep your eyes focussed on it. This tends to stop the rotation quite a bit.

Not that I know of. If I am I'm turning just a little bit more. But I also practise ground spinning when I'm going down the hill so it shouldn't be much of a problem. But thanks for responding!

Logically, you flip because you grabbed an edge. The way you do it on a 180 would be to over rotate like wolf said or maybe when you land you are actually changing the pitch of your board downhill for whatever reason (not staying flat). I can think of no other reason brutha.

Your board will go where your head / eyes are, but you prob know that already.

Learning how to ride switch is going to help you dial those 180's even faster.

It's not required, but it definitely helps to have some comfort in standing and riding switch.

(FYI - Switch is opposite foot forward, for those who don't know)

Two words: Flat Based!!

Try to land as flat as possible going straight ahead.  180s require almost no wind up or effort, the entire rotation is completed from your head.  Look where you want to turn and the body will bring you through naturally.  There isn't any reason for you to have extra spinning momentum following you through the landing.

You don't need to be doing too much edgework off the lip either,  just concentrate on staying flat based and be aware of where you are looking (this whole head thing...it's key!)

Also you said you are super confident riding switch... what about switch straight airs then?  Have you tried just practicing landing switch because riding switch and jumping/landing switch are different animals (just learning how to adjust your weight properly).

Hope this helps,
