Yeah 18 is the legal age. I guess they are implementing the age 21 because they think this is the age where a person was fully developed. Am I right?

Hey, I'm doing a speech on why the legal drinking age in the US should be lowered back to 18, and I was wondering if anyone has any input? Also, I was wondering how many of you know why it is 21? Kind of a stupid policy. Anyway, thanks!!

Hi, first of all, I live in Estonia and our limit actually is 18 and I don't know the situation in the US but I'll tell you what I think. Here young people drink from the age of 13 and even younger and it doesn't matter if the limit is 18 or 21 because the people who do brake the law aren't going to care either way. On the other hand, people who are practically grown up (meaning 18-20) and don't want to brake the law have suffer from it. It's like lowering the speed limit. Drivers aren't going to go any slower, they are just going to brake the law more. Hope I helped:)

Here in Australia it is 18. So is the driving age though.
I think it's at 21 in USA because the brain isn't fully developed until then?
I dont know, but 18 in a month, AUSTRALIA OWNS!!

I think that most people have drank alcohol by the age of 18 anyway, I don't know of anyone I've ever asked who told me that they waited til they were 21 before trying beer or liquor. The military issue is probably the most prevalent point for lowering the age. I mean honestly it's kinda hard to tell someone that they can go into military service and defend the freedoms of their country and have a good possibility of loosing their life, yet they can't enjoy all those freedoms because they're not old enough. I'm just glad I'm old enough to not be affected by it anymore lol.
