it is so annoying that some kids dont know proper ski or snowboard etiquette...
__
i was on a line for the lift... a kid and her father, both with skis were behind me... As the line progressed forward... the kid moved closer and left no space between my snowboard and her skis... she then started to tap the tips of her skis on my snowboards tail... I was looking at her do it but she still keep doing it... so i moved forward to keep a space between us... the kid moved again and proceed to do the same thing... Now i glanced at my board and gave the father and his kid a good stare... then i moved again to keep distance... Finally the father got the picture and stops his brat from doing it again.
__
A novice skier going at full speed ran into me the other day, his ski flew off and so did his ski poles... he flew quite a distance... lucky for me my binding and board took the hit... if he hit my leg, im sure he could have broke it. I wasnt even in the center of the trail, i was keeping myself near the edges or corners... i was even concerned for him. he didn't even say sorry. Now whats up with that???

I am a beginner (yesterday was the only third time ever I've been snowboarding) and I am lucky enough to have a small venue a mere 5 minutes from my house. Honestly I never even thought to try it until my BFF just asked me if I wanted to go with her to try it out, out of the blue. I'm like "hmmm i guess?" I just knew it would suck but i felt bad for her coz nobody wanted to go with her...we had no idea what we were doing and no experienced person with us when we went...lol we went on a powdery blizzard day so it wasn't so bad, even enjoyable.. even though we fell a lot it didn't hurt at all, and the powder kinda buried our boards as we went down the bunny hill so the speed wasn't crazy scary or anything. We loved it so much we bought our own gear the following weekend!!! People thought it was just a phase but we're still at it. We're supposed to get 10 inches here in Chicago tonight so we plan to go after work on Tuesday (coz $20 slope tix on Tuesdays)...and then again on the weekend. very lucky to have the place right by my house so it only makes sense to buy my own gear :)
Took my hubby for the first time ever yesterday and he liked it as well. He doesn't want to buy his own board yet but he did invest in nicer winter gloves today, lol.

Rick... I had to laugh when I read the post about manners on the slope. Never ceases to amaze me how rude some people can be. My son has an Arbor snowboard which he loves, and a skier came barreling down and went right over the top of it. Real deep scratches. No sorry or anything. Lift lines are horrible. I cant tell u how many scratches he has from this season now. I used to be a skier, and I always allowed adequete space for everyone, people work hard to pay for their equipment. Now that i am riding, I allow even more space, and I get cut in line alot, but oh well. Karma will come back to them... Camelback was horrible last weekend!!!

I am very new with snow boarding. Yesterday was just my second time, so I am still trying to learn the ropes and gain my balance. I have fallen and tumbled quite a number of times but I am willing to fall some more if that's what it takes for me to learn it. And I can't wait for the next experience, hopefully next week. :)
