You can find this board all over. Its a CHEAP board. But it will work for your first board or 2nd board if your a newbie. The materials are not the best but it'll still get you down the hill. Its not the board, but the rider that makes the difference!

You know I take that back. I visited there website, and learned they have some pretty high performance stuff. (Well, only 1 board, and a set of bindings and boots) But still, its the laMar boards that are sold through retailers are the crappy ones.

Lamar is just good as a beginner board but yeah Burton makes good board but one of the best brands is Capita. Very expensive but they makes the best boards. But if you are jsut a beginner I will go with K2 or Burton both are good brands.

Most boards that cost under $300 are all the same. Literally, everything is the same. No beginner board is better than the other, there all the same. Burton isn't better because there best known, or K2. do some research and find what board suits you. The company will give you a small synopsis of each board that will tell you how well the board suits you.

Lamar boards are great for what they are designed to do and that is to get people out on the hill with their own equipment without breaking the bank. As addict correctly stated, price point boards like this are all really the same. The technology under the top sheet is virtually identical. A $250 Burton is nearly identical performance wise to a $200 Lamar; you get to pay $50 for the Burton Logo.
A Lamar will get you into your intermediate phas eof riding and then you will start being able to out perform the board. Then it is time to look for a higher end board.

I started on a Lamar 7 years ago and being new to the game I found it would get me down the hill as fast as my sack would allow. As I have progressed I have been on a couple of much better boards and have recently landed on a Never Summer. Just fine for an intro. board if you are wanting to $ave.

snow wolf, you raise a good point. How can you tell when you start to outperform your board? i have an oxygen 159 board that I bought used to learn how to ride on, and I was told once by those boards are the generic ones they would sell at a Big 5. I've been riding for over a year now and I go pretty regularly, and I believe I'm starting to go into advanced riding, and I'm really debating if I should just go for a brand new advanced board. any advice would be helpful

If riding is wrong, then I dont wanna be right!

That`s a hard question to answer definatively; it varies so much for every person. In general, you will just sort of know.. You will be trying to do something that you just know you can do, but for some reason, you just can`t get the board to respond the way you want it to. Speed is another big issue, a cheap board does not have the dampening and other quality features that allow the rider to ride at high speed comfortably without being beaten to death from the chatter. The overall responsiveness just won`t satisfy you and it is just an overall feeling you get.

The only good time to get a board under $300 is when it's on sale

Ride hard or don't ride
