Hey everybody, I''m new to snowboarding and so is my GF, but I want to surprise her and buy her a board.
Weight: 62kg (137lbs)
Shoe size: EU 40(+1 for warm socks? then 41) US 9,5 - 10
Height : 178 cm (5ft 10in)
She''s gonna be freeriding mostly and not be touching the park at all. I was wondering what size board should I buy, I was looking around and I got the impression that weight >; height so I am leaning towards a 151 or a 150.. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Sorry to post a reply that not relevant to this topic but it wont let me start my own...

Can Someone help me pick between L or XL bindings?

Alright so I'm getting a new set up this year, I'm getting a 2012 157cm Capita NAS and I want to get 2012 Ride EX Bindings, except I'm not sure what size to get. I plan on getting Ride boots, either size 11 or 11.5, so I don't know what size bindings I should get. Most snowboard websites say these bindings go Large 8-11 and XL 11-15 but Ride's website says Large 8-12 and XL 11-15. I want to know what will be the best thing to do, getting size Large bindings and being right at the length limit for them, or getting XL bindings and being well under the length limit? I want to have as much control over the board as I can, and not be too big for the bindings or be too small for them. Can someone help me decide what to do?

You are correct with regard to weight being the factor. At 137, I would not go any longer than 150. Ideally look for something in the upper 140`s. Additionally, as a new rider who is light, you want something with a fairly soft flex rating. I would look at boards with a 5 or 6 out of 10 on the manufacturer's scale. A rocker hybrid is also going to be the ideal choice for her.

Go with the Large. The smaller the binding you can use, the better overall control and response.
