Trails and Routes

Skiing  The Foilleuse chairlift will link you directly into the Portes du Soleil circuit, so skiing is virtually door to door. The sheer variety and extent of skiing dominated by a scenery both dramatic and mellow is nothing short of breathtaking. From the rockscape of Avoriaz to the forested slopes of Morgins with off piste tracks winding their way down to the village, there is skiing for all abilities. One of the most popular areas for all levels of skier must be the extremely long and varied on and off-piste slopes above the Lindarets Valley. This spectacularly beautiful region is easily accessible from Morgins via Les Crosets or by taking the Corbeau lift via Super Chatel and the Linga in France. Coincidentally the Lindarets happens to have some of the best lunch time stopovers in the Portes du Soleil. Hard to beat is “Tovassiere” - that wonderful watering hole on the “itineraire” route back to Morgins from Les Crosets. Although there is a certain amount of poling through the forest when conditions aren’t quite perfect, the skiing above Tovassiere is second to none. What’s more; once you’re on the Tovassiere run you don’t have to worry about another lift - the piste takes you right back to the centre of Morgins. So whatever your level there is more than enough to keep you amused. Beginners and children are more than adequately catered for on the 2 nursery slopes in the village itself and they will love the wide, gentle slopes above the Foilleuse whilst the more experienced won’t waste much time in finding more challenging skiing including the World Cup downhill run and the daunting Swiss Wall. To help you find your way round the vast Portes du Soleil circuit we offer a free ‘Ski Guiding’ service 5 days a week, conditions allowing. The service is offered to intermediate and advanced skiers.
Snowshoeing  For those who don’t feel the need to bash the pistes and for anyone who is seeking a bit if peace and quiet away from it all, snowshoeing could be the answer. It’s quite physical but the trails offer stunning views and it’s a fine way to explore the “back country” around Morgins. Our guide will take you on a different trail every day from Monday through to Friday culminating in a trek up to the Pointe de Bellevue at over 2,000m. Walks will generally last for up to 4 hours so please bring plenty of water and a picnic. Snowshoeing is easy to get to grips with – you just have to remember to walk with your legs slightly apart and you’ll be fine!

We are offering 2 organised weeks, one on the 14th. January 2006 at a cost of £395 per person per week and the other on the 11th March 2006 at a cost of £405 per person per week.

The price includes:

*catered, half-board, en-suite accommodation
*tourist taxes
*guide on all walks
