Hemsedal is one of Scandinavia’s largest winter destinations with a nature reminiscent to the Alps. A stabile inland climate ensures great winter experiences for all our guests. The season lasts from November till May.

During winter Hemsedal is one of Scandinavia’s largest winter destinations with a nature reminiscent to the Alps. A stabile inland climate ensures great winter experiences for all our guests. The winter season last from November until May.

Skiing for everyone!
Hemsedal Skisenter is an alpine resort of international class with wide, well-groomed pistes, a large terrain/snowboardpark, crèche and designated areas for children and beginners. Solheisen is a smaller resort situated in Grøndalen Valley.

Here are also 130 km groomed cross-country tracks in valley and forest terrain and 80 km marked high mountain tracks.

Family weeks
In the Family weeks we offer accommodation and lift passes at favourable prices. In addition there are offers and activities especially for families with children. family weeks are arranged mid-week (Sunday-Friday) week 2, 14, 15 and 16.

White christmas in Hemsedal
White christmas puts everyone in the right christmas mood. Hemsedal is decorated with lights and trees, and you will find goblins and santas everywhere!

Summer
Beautiful mountain landscapes, activities and closeness to the majestic Sognefjord.Here are mountain lakes and rivers with unique fishing possibilities, golf courses, horseback riding, biking and canoeing, chairlift at the ski centre, day excursions to the Sognefjord, elk-safari and more, and many great hiking routes.

Children and Families

Trollia Crèche
The Trollia crèche is part of the Hemsedal Skisenter and accepts children from the age of 3 months and upwards. Here, children can play, take a nap and have a good time in a safe environment.

New beginners and family area
Expanded beginners and family area, two new platter lifts and two more slopes. The area will have waves, mini quarter pipe, jumps, rails, path in the forest with animals made of wood, tobogganing, roller carpet and lavvo. The beginners and family area is located at the base of the ski centre and will also be a fantastic play ground for the children.

Free lift pass
All children younger than seven years skis for free.

Rent helmet for free
We recommend all children (also parents) to use helmet when skiing. You can rent one free at Trollia and most ski rentals.

Ski school
Hemsedal Ski School gives group lessons for children from 5 years and up. For younger children we recommend a 25-minute private lesson.

Salomon Ski and Troll night
The evening starts with the Troll race - a free ski race where all the children will win a price. After the race we go treasure hunting with snowmobile sledge around the forest area. The hunt ends with fireworks. Price = Free.

 
Trails and Routes

 

Cross-country Skiing  There are 130 km machine-groomed trails through the valleys and forests, and 80 km marked mountain trails. From most apartments and cabins in the valley you can enter straight onto the groomed valley trails. There are also 12 km of flodlit tracks at night, open every day.

The unique mountain scenery gives Hemsedal a decidedly "alpine" feel. It has the highest alpine point in all of Scandinavia, 1500 metres above sea level, and a vertical drop of 810 metres.

Variety and diversity characterises Hemsedal's network of pistes. The pistes are wide, well groomed and suited to all levels of expertise. Everyone can enjoy the clean fresh air, the panoramic view and the descent from the highest mountain, as there are green pistes all the way down to the base area, as well as more advanced runs.

The snowboard/ terrain park is considered one of Europe's best, known for its high standard and challenges for all. Big jumps, fun boxes, half pipe, two quarter pipes, rails and more attractions make this an ideal playgroound for the thrillseeker. There is also a separate park for beginners.Snowboarding  We are proud to present our snowboard/ terrain park. The park has three different lines. Blue for beginners, red for the intermediate and black for the experts. Everyone will find challenges suitable for their level.

Information about Solheisen Skicenter:

On the sunny side in Grøndalen Valley, 10 km from Hemsedal village. Solheisen has its own ski school, skirental and cafeteria/restaurant. There are 3 lifts with a total capacity of 3000 persons per hour. There are 7 slopes providing 6 km of skiing.

1 ski school, 3 ski rental, 4 cafeterias/restaurants

2 snowboard areas with 3 lines, green, red and black

Large children and beginner area

810 meters difference in height and the longest slope is 6 km
