Lying above the city of Aosta in a bowl-shaped depression lined with fir and larch trees, Pila was built as an “integrative” ski resort, perfectly equipped for sport and entertainment.
As well as boasting a breath-taking view across the most important mountains: Mont Blanc, Grand Combin, the Matterhorn , Monte Rosa - at Pila, you can avoid those tiring treks carrying your skis on your shoulders as it’s so easy to reach your hotel with your skis still on your feet.
A penthouse above Aosta, a hollow filled with fir and larch woods, Pila is an all-round skiing resort with everything needed to enjoy your sport or more worldly pleasures. In addition to offering you a sweeping view of the Alps from Mont Blanc to the Grand Combin and from the Matterhorn to Monte Rosa, Pila is where you never need to trudge around with your skis on your shoulders.
Pila is a modern resort. You are free to roam over an area with 70 km of pistes just beyond your doorstep.
Twelve ultramodern lifts, moving 18.900 persons an hour will speed you up to where you want to go (Grimod, Couis1, Couis 2, Liaison, Nouva and Grimondet chairlifts have a new conveyer belt, just for you).
Choosing Pila means skiing in an area where safety is present all around.
In fact, the resort boasts numerous services which guarantee that our guests can ski in all tranquillity:
- an efficient rescue team constantly patrol the pistes;
- a traumatological centre within the resort immediately reachable when necessary;
- contact with the Regional Operative Centre;
- possibility to reach Aosta hospital within few minutes by helicopter.
NB: The pistes can be used from opening time of the lifts until 15 minutes after closing time.
The news for 2004-05 is all to do with offering even faster ski lifts and reducing queues, guaranteeing even greater enjoyment for clients.
The moving walkways for embarkation have been increased to six, making departure operations easier and speeding up access to the whole lift station. In addition to those already in operation on the Nouva chair-lift and at Couis 1 and 2, Grimod and Liaison, a new moving walkway has also been installed at Grimondet. This demonstrates that at Pila, the battle against queues has now been won on all fronts.
After the opening of the new Bellevue, Lo Goil and Alpage slopes, which have become just as popular at the resort, now the more classic slope at Pila, dedicated to “Renato Rosa” and known as the “Bosco” slope, has been the subject of modifications in the final stretch, thereby passing the severe certification tests for speed events.
