The alpine skiing village Reit im Winkl counts among the leading health and hiking resorts. Assured of a wealth of snow, it is famous well beyond Bavaria’s borders. At an altitude of 695 m, it lies in the middle of the Bavarian Alps.
Reit im Winkl is a well-known climatic health resort and winter sport area, and one of the few villages in Germany with assurance of snow! Why is Reit im Winkl guaranteed of snow? Because it is a fact that every winter, the most snow falls in Reit im Winkl.
Well- maintained, centuries-old farmhouses in Chiemgau style amid an untouched nature give the town its unique character.
Reit im Winkl offers untainted nature, quiet corners, cultural and culinary highlights, adventure, relaxation, wellness and sport activities around the clock. The variety of offerings for leisure time fulfills every wish.
Nordic walking, golf, guided walking-tours, mountain biking, hiking, bicycling, minigolf and open-air chess, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools with beach volleyball delight our active guests.
Tourism is the main income for 80% of our 3500 inhabitants. Rustical inns, private boarding-houses, farmhouses, vacation apartments and hotels with one to four stars, number approximately 400 businesses with 5000 guest beds. Circa 60 restaurants offer regional and culinary specialties as well as gourmet cooking.
Cultural programs include folk and light music, concerts in the music pavillion, church and choir concerts, operetta, musicals, etc., folkloric evenings, the farmers’ theatre and much more. The guests’ reception evenings as well as colourful processions are essential for understanding Bavarian traditions and living.
