The VillagesVillard de Lans - Corrençon en Vercors, two villages with their own distinct personality…where convivial, friendly and festive moments are brought to life by the Spirit of the Vercors.
Correncon en VercorsCorrençon, 1111 metres up on the edge of the largest nature reserve in France, nestles in the heart of a vast forest and adds the bluish hues of its typical stone roofs to the natural palette of luxuriant greens. The local economy has always been based on cattle breeding and forestry. Since 1988, Corrençon en Vercors has had a fine 18-hole golf course, which blends subtly and ecologically, into the countryside. The 324 inhabitants of the village will give you a warm welcome in summer or winter, whatever your interests. And there’s plenty to chose from, with winter sports, walking, golf, mountain biking, and orienteering for all, in short a whole series of great nature breaks. You’ll love it, quite naturally…
Villard de LansVillard de Lans is a principal cantonal town and historic centre of the Vercors. At 1050 metres and with more than 4000 inhabitants, it rises in tiers up the slopes of the foothills of the Grande Moucherolle mountain, which soars, above the town to 2285 metres. Well located and accessible, Villard has always enjoyed a reputation for pure air. At the turn of the 19th century, a new economy, which got further impetus from the staging of the Olympic Games in 1968, began to evolve. First health cures, then summer holidays and winter sports. In the 1970’s a truly integrated all-season resort was created – the “Balcon de Villard-Cote 2000” – which gave holidaymakers direct access to the downhill ski slopes.Despite constant evolution of its holiday facilities, Villard de Lans has maintained its authentic character: it is still and will we believe always be a modest market town with a rural existence which goes beyond its attraction as a great holiday centre in the mountains.
