Surrounded by forests in western Lapland, the lively and compact winter sports resort of Levi is Finland's largest downhill skiing centre and boasts the country's only gondola lift. Levitunturi is the fell area towering over the village of Sirkka, which is just 15 kilometres from Kittilä airport. As well as offering a good variety of downhill slopes, Levi has four half pipes for snowboarders, 4 children's slopes and some wonderful cross country opportunities. From the hotels it is just a short walk to the ski lifts and the cross country ski trails start right from the door. Off the slopes, the resort has a good choice of restaurants and bars including the large Hullu Poro Areena restaurant and nightclub that houses up to 1500 people on two floors. As an alternative to skiing there are several other winter activities to experience, and you may also choose to visit the swimming pool and spa at Hotel Levitunturi.

Hotels within a short walking distance to the ski lifts: Hotel Levitunturi situated within 200 metres of Levi's main ski lift, and is our family choice within the resort. The spa includes a swimming pool, sauna, gym, hairdresser and sports centre with indoor tennis, badminton, basketball and volleyball courts. Many treatments are available such as water massage and herbal baths. The Activity Centre houses Children's World with its sea of balls and video room, a hamburger restaurant, golf simulator and NetCafé. The hotel also has a bar and a main restaurant with an a la carte menu as well as a pizza menu available to eat in or take away. There is music and dancing in the restaurant most evenings. Accommodation can be found in several buildings around the complex. Larger family rooms with additional kitchenette and alcove with bunk beds are also available.

White Reindeer Hotel is furnished in a traditional, countryside style and has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The hotel enjoys a location in the heart of the ski resort of Levi, just 250 metres from the slopes.
The hotel has a pleasant restaurant and bar and is also situated close to the renowned Steak House restaurant (Pihvi Pirtti) under the same ownership.

SKI & SNOWBOARD TRAILS & ROUTES
Camping  Camping available in the Levi area would be most appropriate for those campers who enjoy "roughing it" in the wilderness. There are no established caravan parks for camping during the summer, nor are there specific camp ground areas set aside for campers, however, Levi and the surrounding area are littered with hiking trails and for those wishing to pitch up a tent in the forest by a lake and spend a weekend communing with nature, you don't get much closer to nature than this. Our Safari services in Levi can help you locate an appropriate camp site and prepare yourself for the adventure.
Cross-country Skiing  The first snow cross country track (9 km) was opened on 28th November. December-January will see the opening of the full length of the 230-km long network of varied ski tracks, all well-maintained and all with plenty of places to stop off en route and enjoy your picnic lunch in the warmth of a campfire. All tracks around Levi are suitable for both classic and free techniques.

Either winter or summer horse back riding can be arranged for individuals or groups.
Kayaking  Kayaking and canoeing adventures through many of Lapland's lakes and rivers can be arranged from Levi through our safari services as part of our summer programme.
Mountain Biking  Mountain biking around the various fells and mountain areas surrounding Levi can be arranged through our suppliers and safari services as part of our summer programme.
Skiing  The range of the services that Levi offers as Lapland’s most popular tourist attraction and the largest downhill skiing centre in Finland, continues to expand. An artificial snow system has been adopted on the popular southern slope to lengthen the ski season. Levi’s broad fell area has slopes for everyone from beginners to medium-difficult slopes for the more experienced. If you really want to put your skills to the test you can try the black World Cup slope, which has a 52% steep final stretch that almost makes you fly. Levi also boasts Finland´s first and only Gondola lift. Levi has as many as 47 slopes and 26 lifts so you will not waste your precious holiday in queuing for lift rides. Levi has a 3-step equipment hire classification system. The Family hire point beside the South slope offers low-cost slalom, snowboarding and telemark skiing equipment for the whole family. The Standard at the foot of the Front slope provides high-quality equipment for slalom, cross country, telemark and snowborading. Snowmobiling  Levi's snowmobile routes are the most extensive in Finland. Along the 750 kilometers of maintained and marked snowmobiling routes, you will find trails for beginners and for more serious enthusiasts alike.
In the thrill of fast-paced snowmobiling, you also need to take some breaks. Trail routes, service and refueling locations, as well as safari agency locations, can be found on the snowmobiling map. Even kids can try their hand at snowmobiling in their own supervised area. A guided snowmobile safari is an experience that will touch your mind and body. Led by a professional safari guide, even the inexperienced will quickly learn how to handle a snowmobile. For those with more experience, there are challenging snowmobiling routes, even extending beyond the national border to Sweden and Norway. As fundamental rules of safe snowmobiling, it is necessary to remember that a driving license is required to drive a snowmobile. The maximum speed permitted on waterway routes is 80 km/h, 60 km/h on land routes and in Levi's populated area, 30 km/h. The maximum speed limit is 30 km/h in certain village centers and in dangerous areas. Speed limits are marked on traffic signs. The promille content limits are in accordance with the road traffic act. The travel route and, above all, the speed, should be suited to the skill of the driver.
Snowshoeing  Snowshoe hiking is the easy way to experience the wintry nature of Lapland with its wildlife. We drive by car or snowmobile to untouched nature close. Once the snowshoes are strapped on and we get a feel for the technique, we follow the guide into the wilds. The silence of the surrounding forest, campfire resting points with hot drinks relax and revitalise us. During the trip, we will learn the ways plants and animals survive the cold of the winter.
