Pitztal
Pitztal is the southern most side valley of the inner valley from the Tyrolean district's capital, Imst, in the Ötztaler Alps.
It takes the traveller a good 40 kilometers and over 1000 vertical meters to reach the end of the valley, to the foot of the second highest mountain peak in Tyrol, the Wildspitze, which tops out at 3774m.
The Holiday Spirit is at Home in Pitztal: in Arzl, Wenns, Jerzens and St. Leonhard in the "Innerpitztal", in its small communities and hamlets, its farms and mountains. At the gateway to the valley, gentle mountain shoulders stretch along the valley, lush meadows and slopes, farmland and gardens characterize the landscape. At the end of the valley, you will see a starkly contrasting picture - a view of the high alps. Green valley meadows give way to the white of the glacier, the three thousand meter high peaks soar grandly above everything else.
In Pitztal, you can experience the majesty of the mountains in many different ways.
The Path to Happiness ... From the north, the path leads you over the toll free (and motorway vignette free) Fernpass, from the west, you arrive over Arlberg, from the east, via Innsbruck until Imst, then head for the Wildspitze.
Pitztal - Winter Wonderland From the start of the valley over Arzl, Wenns, Jerzens and St. Leonhard up to the amazing inner Pitztaler Glacier with the famous Wildspitze, the entire valley is covered in a fascinating white blanket of snow and provides everything winter has to offer.
