Sometime in ‘94 we got stuck on the idea that a different kind of snowboard had to be built. Having been woodworkers, we knew that certain organic materials would improve the way a snowboard performed and add aspects of style that had never been available. After a year of R&D we started Arbor as the alternative to what the industry has been offering.
We initially built the name on the benefits of our structural wood topsheets. Over the years we've introduced other natural technologies such as targeted wood and carbon fiber inlays, cork damping stringers, Dymond-wood® edge supports, and bamboo reinforced cores. We also developed a full line of longboard skates made with some of these same materials.
Today Arbor is one of the last brands left that is still owned and operated by its founders and made exclusively in North America. We've stayed focused on boards, kept durability and performance central to our approach, and allowed our team to fuel the design process. As a result, some of the most progressive, well-built boards on the market bear the Arbor name.
